WHAT: Three Cultural Masterpieces of Spanish Opera for the Third Concert in the 2010-2011 Connoisseur Series
Mezzo Soprano Soloist Daniela Mack and Principal Conductor Philippe Entremont continue the 2010-2011 series featuring the Spanish masterpieces of, Montsalvatge’s Sortileges; Granado’s Goyescas Suite; Albeniz’s Triana; and Falla’s El Amor Brujo.  This will be Mack’s first performance with the Boca Raton Symphonia, a Buenos Aires native, she has appeared with the San Francisco Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, Opera Omaha, Edmonton Symphony, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Virginia Opera, and was a featured artist in the 2006 Placido Domingo Gala concert, “A Night for New Orleans with the New Orleans Opera.”  This concert will be Entremont’s world premiere of conducting music by composers, Montasalvatge, Granado, and Albeniz. This concert marks Entremont’s second performance in South Florida.  Entremont is especially known and acclaimed for his performances as a pianist all five continents, and his interpretation of classical and early twentieth century repertoire. Prior to every concert, Musicologist and American Classical Music Hall of Fame inductee Martin Bookspan who has appeared with many of America’s great symphony orchestras and served as Contributing Editor to the Stereo Review will be holding an open discussion with Concert Conductors, including questions from the audience and commentary.
